We will have between 6-8 solos on our In Praise of Music Concert which is October 21, 2025 at St. James Episcopal. Then, we will have 15-20 solo/duets on Pay It Forward which is November 24 in the Hall Auditorium at 7. In Praise of Music is our fall fundraiser and our first concert of the year. Pay It Forward is an optional concert of solos/duets. That evening we raise money for Hands on Hartford, a local charity group that helps who are less fortunate in our community. This concert is a way for us to use our talents to give back to our community.
Here are the details for you to audition.
You may only audition for one spot. Our election committee (other music and fine arts teachers) will look at everyone for both. If you make the Praise concert, that will be your song. If you do not make that concert, the committee will consider you for Pay It Forward. One audition, one song, one spot!
For In Praise, Doc will accompany the singers which means that you will have to have a clean copy of the score for him to use. We will set a time to rehearse. For Pay It Forward, Doc is not playing. You must take care of your accompaniment. If you have a parent or friend who plays, they could accompany you on piano, guitar, etc. Most people will probably use a backing track or instrumental version of the song with which the singer provides the singing. We will have a sound system for both events and a sound engineer to play accompaniments on the Pay It Forward concert
Make sure your song is school appropriate. There can be no major profanities or subject matter not allowed in school.
Pick your song and rehearse it. Then, using your knowledge from last Friday about making audition recordings, make a recording. You will then need to fill out the Google Form below and attach your video to the Google Doc.
All recordings for both concerts are due by 5 PM on Wednesday, October 8.
Do your best work and turn in a phenomenal audition tape!
